Connecticut 2019 Anti Trapping legislation update

Proposed legislation update

The below listed proposed House Bills will severely impact our fur trapping rights!


All Bills are still in the Proposed status and have not been called on for discussion in their respective committees.

*NOTE: Under "current status", COMM ON PD = the Planning and Development Committee, COMM ON ENV = the Environment Committee.

Please contact your Legislators and ask for their support on OPPOSING these Bills if you haven't done so already.

We will inform you IMMEDIATELY if any of these Bills are DRAFTED and are scheduled a Public Hearing.

We will need to show up IN FORCE and oppose these Bills if and when a public hearing occurs.

HB-5272 AN ACT PERMITTING MUNICIPAL REGULATION OF TRAPPING AND HUNTING. 01-14 HCO - REF. TO JOINT COMM. ON PD
  To permit local bans on the trapping and hunting of animals.  
     
HB-5485 AN ACT AUTHORIZING MUNICIPALITIES TO BAN THE TRAPPING OF ANIMALS. 01-17 HCO - REF. TO JOINT COMM. ON ENV
  To provide for local control of animal trapping.  
     
     
HB-6014 AN ACT PROHIBITING THE USE OF LEGHOLD AND BODY CRUSHING TRAPS. 01-24 HCO - REF. TO JOINT COMM. ON ENV
  To prohibit the use of leghold and body-crushing traps.  
     
     
HB-6015 AN ACT AUTHORIZING LOCAL CONTROL OF ANIMAL TRAPPING AND HUNTING. 01-24 HCO - REF. TO JOINT COMM. ON ENV
  To allow towns to regulate hunting and trapping.  
     
     
*HB-6443 AN ACT PROHIBITING LEGHOLD TRAPS. 01-28 HCO - REF. TO JOINT COMM. ON ENV
  To protect beavers, coyotes and other native wildlife.  
     
     
HB-5250 AN ACT PROHIBITING WILDLIFE TRAFFICKING. 01-14 HCO - REF. TO JOINT COMM. ON ENV
  To prohibit wildlife trafficking.

2019 FHA Winter Fur Pickup - Cancelled

FHA Winter Fur Pickup has been cancelled

We are expected to get snow and ice for Sunday 1/20.

There will be a Fur Harvester Auctions (FHA) fur pickup at the CFHA annual Spring Fur Sale.

The CFHA Spring Fur Sale date will be announced.

Not much we can do about the weather!
